Final Project

Hello everyone!

For the final project, I wanted to challenge myself a bit and experiment more with digital tools on Adobe Fresco. I wanted to create a design for a product that others, including myself, can deeply resonate to. Initially, I was going to expand my pattern from my last blog post, however, I felt like I needed to experiment more with digital tools and continue to convert my traditional art into digital!

The product I decided to compose, is a puzzle! For my product design, I wanted to incorporate someone who was the highlight of my life, and to this day, carries great significance. The theme for this puzzle, is my dog! He passed away in August of 2024, though, there isn’t a day where I don’t think about him. Composing a puzzle regarding his remembrance, truly made me feel a sense of security and joy. Of course, if I were to start a company in which I would create personalized puzzles for individuals, the theme would be their loved companions!

The Process:

In the past, I created a traditional drawing in my sketchbook. I basically used that as a reference to get a glimpse of the techniques I utilized. For the fur of my dog, I used tons of line work to create a sense of directional flow.

I then began looking through my photo gallery to choose a reference photo for my puzzle! (This was quite difficult because I have a lot of photos of him!)

This is the photo I decided to utilize:

Now that I knew which photo I was going to use, I then transferred it onto Adobe Fresco and began the digital process! I adjusted the layer opacity and started tracing the photo with the Vector brush. I utilized a lot of line work for this design and really enjoyed viewing how much movement it brought to the photo!

This was the results of tracing the image with the Vector brush.

After I finished the outline of my image, I then adjusted the background into a light brown color and began coloring the sketch. I used the soft graphite pencil, as well as the blending tool to blend all of the different colors together. This was my favorite part of the whole process!

At this point, I had finished composing my image and began researching websites in which I could purchase a personalized puzzle. I stumbled upon this website called Printerpix, where you can customize a puzzle by uploading your own photos!

Here is the link: https://www.printerpix.com/

I uploaded my photo, and this was the final result:

I noticed that a lot of puzzles range from around $30-$50. I feel like this is a very reasonable price for this kind of product, especially because it is customized at your own interest. I feel like this is a product that many individuals may be interested in purchasing!

Overall, I really enjoyed this project. To be completely honest, I am not the best at creating digital art and found this whole process truly insightful! I believe that my final product was a success! I’m really consistent with incorporating meaning into my traditional art, and found this project as an opportunity to incorporate it into my digital art as well!

Pattern Project

Hello everyone! For this week’s blog post, we were asked to create a pattern for a product! One of the artists that truly inspired me throughout this whole process was Galina Shpak. She creates beautiful designs, specializing in vector designs!

Here is the link to her work: https://www.shutterstock.com/g/galinagalina

My intention was to create a pattern, utilizing some of my previous techniques used in past projects and artworks!

Here are some of my previous patterns:

First, I began by composing my color palette. I aimed to compose a flowy and floral pattern and really liked the idea of utilizing natural colors.

Then, I began to sketch out my design traditionally. This part was the most time consuming because I kept on changing my mind on how I wanted to arrange all of the flowy lines.

This is what I composed.

I then transferred the image to Adobe Fresco and used the vector brush to trace my sketch with my desired color palette.

This was going to be my finalized pattern, however, I felt like it was very plain and needed more line elements to fill in the empty areas. Therefore, I added more flowy lines to complete my overall pattern.

After, I continued to utilize adobe fresco to duplicate my pattern into a larger scale. I used several layers for this step.

Now that I finalized my overall pattern, I began searching for websites where I could actually purchase items with my design. Since I wanted to focus on pottery as my product idea, it was quite difficult to find websites or companies that will let you personalize pottery using your own images. I was able to find two companies, however, their selection of pottery was very limited.

Here is the link to the first website: https://awesomethis.com/home

Here, I uploaded my pattern onto a floral vase.

Here is the link to the second website: https://www.michaelsphotogifts.com/

Here, I uploaded my pattern onto a mug.

I learned a lot from this project. It was super thought provoking trying to decide what design I wanted to create! I utilized various line techniques, which gave my pattern a sense of direction. Additionally, I’ve enjoyed utilizing Adobe Fresco to transform my traditional art into digital!

Learning from My Classmates Art Tutorials!

Hi everyone! For this week’s blog, we were asked to follow two of our classmates art tutorials! I enjoyed seeing everyone’s work and was really looking forward to this assignment!

Tutorial #1

The first tutorial I followed was done by one of my classmates named June! Here is the link to their blog: https://junesanalysis.blogspot.com/2026/03/how-to-draw-cute-bunny.html

For this tutorial we are drawing a bunny!

Materials I used:

- Sketchbook

- Pencil

I first began by drawing the ears and the face structure.

Then I drew the body structure. I decided to make this a curly haired bunny by using flowy line work.

I added the facial features like the eyes, nose, and mouth, as well as the tail and details on the ears.

Once I finished my primary sketch, I decided to outline it for a more defined look.

I then added additional details to the fur by using simple line work.

June mentioned to include some cute details to this drawing so I decided to draw these diamonds on the side!

I subtly shaded both the bunny and the diamonds, and even added some extra curvy lining work as an outline!

I am super happy with the final product!

Tutorial #2

The second tutorial was composed by Olivia! Here is their blog: https://studioliviablog.blogspot.com/2026/03/cootie-catcher-art-tutorial.html

We are going to make a cootie catcher!

To be completely honest, I’ve never made one of these in my entire life until now. :)

Materials I used:

- Scissors

- Paper

- Colored Pencils

I began by positioning the paper vertically and folding the bottom left corner.

I then folded the bottom right corner of the paper.

Next, you’re going to cut off the top rectangle of the paper, which will leave you with this triangle.

You will then open up the triangle and be left with a square shape.

Then, you’re going to fold the corners of the paper, where they will essentially meet at the center of the square.

You will do this for all four corners.

Next, you’re going to insert your fingers into the flaps of the paper.

BUT WAIT!

We’re not finished yet…

I decided to color my cootie catcher and draw some super cool designs!

Okay, now we’re done! :)

These tutorials were super fun to do. Most importantly, I enjoyed learning from my classmates!

My Art Tutorial

Hi everyone! For today’s blog post, we were asked to create an art tutorial for our classmates! I was really excited for this assignment because there were so much ideas for what I could create! One idea that stood out from the others was this drawing technique that my high school art teacher taught me. Has anyone ever heard of neurographic art? Well, it’s an art technique that is widely used in art therapy, promoting mindfulness and emotion processing. Because I’m studying both psychology and art, I truly understand how art deeply enriches our understanding of ourselves and the complexities of the human experience.

What we will be creating:

Materials you will need:

- Paper

- Pencil

- Colored pencils

- Marker

Step 1: Begin by drawing a line, doodle, or scribble on the your paper. I personally chose to draw irregular organic forms. Feel free to draw spontaneous free-form lines!

Step 2: Begin rounding the corners to soften the sharp edges on every intersection where the lines cross.

Step 3: Choose any color of your choice and begin coloring! I chose to use a yellow marker to create some kind of shading within the shapes. Of course, feel free to use any medium of your choice for this! If you do use a medium like watercolor, I recommend using a sharpie or pen to draw the lines and shapes.

I then colored the rest with colored pencil and decided to add more shading.

After you finish coloring, you’re left with this beautiful neurographic art!

Stamping to Digital

For this assignment, we were asked to utilize the tools provided in our art kit to create a stamp and then use some kind of photoshop tool to edit the photo digitally. This was such a wonderful experience as I’ve never worked with any of these tools before! I was able to document both, my successes and failures. However, these failures didn’t stop me from producing a final piece! I learned a lot from this exercise and plan on practicing it more in the future for fun!

I followed my art professors’ tutorial for this assignment! Here is the link to her blog: https://candacenicolgarlock.com/blog/http/wwwcandacegarlockcom-5

I wanted to create a stamp inspired by one of my previous sketches that I made a few weeks ago during the beginning of this course. This was the sketch:

I then went over and sketched this drawing on the stamp itself. (This is where I begin to run into some drawbacks and didn’t realize until I began the stamping process).

I used the blick tool provided in our art kit as well as a x-acto knife to carve out my sketch. Personally, this step was the most difficult!

As I began to get my stamp ready for action, I realized that it was inverted lol!

I was going to redo the whole stamp but realized the sketch itself can still be saved. So I decided to just eliminate the words on the bottom. I wasn’t really stoked to remove the words because I adore the meaning, however, for the lack of time I have to complete the assignments for this class as well as for my other classes, this was the most necessary action I had take.

I continued to use the green ink pads because green is my favorite color. :) And then stamped it into my sketchbook!

I love how it came out, but it did seem a little bland. So I decided to make another stamp! For my second stamp, I made it within a strict time frame so I just went straight to the carving step! Again, I used the blick tool and x-acto knife. For this stamp I created a floral design.

I decided to use the orange and brown ink to compliment the shades of green on my other stamp! I do believe that the floral design gives this artwork a sense of balance!

After I finished with my stamping, I then transferred this image to Adobe and utilized the basic photo editing tools. I wanted to incorporate some kind of background in the image. So I decided to use the pattern from the floral stamp I made, and set it as the background. This is what I composed:

Overall, I really like the final product of this artwork! It’s abstract which isn’t a technique that I utilize often! Since this is my first time creating a stamp, it was quite difficult, especially since I ran into several obstacles through the process. However, I view this as any other experience, one I can learn from and continue working toward growth!
